A Page A Day : Tagline

A Page A Day : Tagline

Often, our blogs have taglines. But what if humans did, too?

What would your tagline be?

Hmmm.

Probably, “a second cup of coffee never hurt anyone”

Or “you’ve always got a friend in me”

Or “it’s the strong ones that cry the hardest”

Or “I serve an intentional God”

Or “rainy days, chocolate cake and a book”

Or “you can find me at the nearest café”

Or “the feminist, pro-life, pro-LGBQT+ Catholic who can walk and chew gum”

Or “if you’re going through hell, keep going”

Or “bitch better have my money”

Or “I’ve got your back; through hell and high water, I’ve got your back.”

If I had to have a tagline, it would definitely be a mix of all of these nine options. Why choose one option, when my personality embodies all these things?

A Pocketful Of Rainbows

A Pocketful Of Rainbows

I have always wondered

Why God created some people gay

And the rest of us straight?

(Or as straight as we assume ourselves to be) *shrugs*

You can scoff

But I believe it –

If She is in charge of the

Sun, stars and the sea

Then She is certainly responsible

For the brightest of us

The most colourful

The most courageous

The most honest.

For is it not bravery to love in a world

Which tries to forbid you?

Is it not honest to claim and accept

Every glorious, perfectly imperfect part of yourself?

And are you not the epitome of colourful

If every June you shower this ungrateful world

With rainbows?

I don’t think God created half of us gay

So that the other half would have someone to fixate on

And hate.

I think She did it to teach us how to love

To love honestly

To love fearlessly

To love with empathy and understanding

And to remember

And to realise

Deep down

We’re all the same

We all want the same thing

A shoulder to cry on

A love to call our own

A space to be free

A space to call

Home.
